SATURDAY MORNINGS IN THE PARK

|
| BEECH TREE AVENUE, ABBEY PARK, AUTUMN 2006 |
At Abbey Park
Glastonbury
Every saturday morning
9.00am onwards
Tai Chi and Chi Gung are all about Chi and there isn't a great
deal of 'fresh wholesome external chi' in your average training gym or hall. Indoor classes are for learning and absorbing
information they are not great places for developing Chi - for the best health development you really need to practice
your Tai Chi or Chi Gung outside, under the sky and surrounded by nature.
To encourage this we are suggesting that Saturday mornings should be 'Practicing
in the Park' morning.
All are welcome, the more the merrier, and it is free. Whether you are a complete
beginner or a great taoist sage!
Please note; this is for practice only and not for tuition
- (classes are for tuition) but every saturday morning please come to the park and help to make 'Tai Chi in the Park' a normal
Glastonbury activity. Yuri will aim to be there every saturday between 9.00am and 11.00am - so even if you are the only person
to turn up, rest assured, you wont be the only strange person moving slowly in the park!
Throughout China, whole families of Chinese people gather in town and city parks
and practice together - in China it is as common as 'walking a dog', its what parks are for.
This is not a commercial thing nor is it an educational thing, it is simply friends
meeting in the park to exercise; but in so doing you can feel comfortable practicing on your own under a tree, teaming up
with a partner to practice Pushing Hands or working as a group to practice a set of choreography. There is great
comfort in numbers so you needn't feel shy or embarrassed.
Come and practice what you know, chat and share ideas with friends or just sit
back and watch other people's moves.
Let's make Saturday mornings 'Tai Chi in the Park' mornings!
Please wear appropriate clothing (plenty of layers to keep the cold and wind
out of your vertibrae and joints), make sure you bring a drink with you. If the weather is really bad (heavy rain or strong
winds) then don't come - it's not good for chi development, in fact it's quite detrimental. But a light rain or comfortable
wind is ok.
MONDAYS

This isn't a class, just a friendly gathering in the park (usually
between 9.30am and 11.00am 'ish')
