SPEAR FORM
(Chen Style)
Full Martial Flower - is a tricky move to learn.
Here is a demonstration of Yuri practicing the movement slowly. Whether you are walking the half flower to the left or the
half flower to the right, the 'pattern of action' is similar,
1st step - spear-tip points forward
2nd step - butt-end is forward, blocking.
3rd step - adjust back foot, spear to shoulder
4th step - spear-tip browses through the grass
5th step - step back whilst twirling spear.
As you watch the clip below, observe the spear's red tassel and you will see that
(to you, the viewer) the tassel keeps moving around in a clockwise circle - it never changes direction.
Transitional Twirl - is not a specific Spear
movement in its own right it is simply a 'transitional connection' between movements.
If you watch the clip of Yuri below, you'll see that he twirls the spear-tip
and then the butt-end past his left foot first and then the spear-tip and butt-end past his right foot - then
drop-steps into his right foot as the spear-tip is brought forwards.
